I left the hilltop "tripping light fantastic" heading to Tulane University intending to Major in Drama. By Thanksgiving I knew I had made a big mistake. A major factor - I met Maude in August, 1970 and fell madly in love. So, by the skin of my teeth, I executed a transfer to Georgetown to begin sophmore year (1971 - 1972). This worked out well and made all the (best) difference.

Some are saying it is feeling more and more like the 1970s in the Federal City these days. Well then, I say, you better buckle up.

Fuzzy, Roddy and I took an apartment on 33rd St NW, a short block up from M Street. My journey leaving childhood behind and entering the adult world began.

Speaking of "tripping, light, fantastic":- Senior Week 1970 is still a strong, fond memory. Thank You Steve Muse for the social gathering you generously hosted. The senior week feeling would come back once more when I retired from JPM.

Played Lacrosse at Georgetown. In 1973 Casey and I stopped at the Cumberland Gap on the way to a game to be played. In 1983 we showed-up at the Varsity v. Alumni game. In 2005 attended a gala celebration of the 40 year Hoya lacrosse program. A team spokesman for each decade spoke of the advances in the sport. The 1970s team spokesman told the audience : "You're lucky we showed up".

The Rest of the Story - Outside the Classroom

Despite all the exciting developments I left Georgetown in May of 1974. Maude and I married in October that year. It was Maude's connection that got me an interview with Morgan Guarant Trust. I began working April 1975 in the Investment Management business.

My training and market expertise was in bonds, not stocks. The MGT Fixed Income Group was highly regarded by customers, delivering solid "above median returns " year after year. In 1997 I was sent to London to prepare our International, non-dollar fixed income capabiltiy for the launch of the Euro in January 1999. Later that year I was brought back to manage the Gobal Asset Allocation business. I retired fully-vested in September, 2002.💥

But the biggest post- Cranwell event was back at the beginning with Maude.

47 YEARS AGO TODAY

1975 - 2002

1980s and 1990s 🌟 FAMILY FORMATION & 🏄‍♂️ CAREER DEVELOPMENT

Maude got the first full-time job: Special Education Teacher. I joined Morgan Guranty Trust Company's Trust & Investment Division as Portfolio Manager Assistant in April 1975.

By 1980 I was leaving the Money Market Trader job and joining The Fixed Income Group as a cash and governmnent bond market specialist. Maude reired from teaching.

Eliot was born in 1983. Madison in 1987. Maude took over running the family formation part of our plan and that allowed me to concemtrate on career development, which meant immersing myself in all-things capital markets, forcasts and active portfolio risk management.

The 1990s was all about Globilaztion, Disinflation, and at times - - Irrationlal Exuberance. In 2000 when Chase bought Morgan we cashed in the vested-benefits from 27 years of climbing the development ladder.

2003 TO THE PRESENT

2004 - 2008 lived on Nevis Island, West Indies.

2009 - 2013 worked with Eliot in his Venture Capital business.

2013 - 2021 at home with Maude; we do what ever we want. I am Macro Advisor to Madison's Equity Trading Operation. Maude is Life Coach to both boys .
